Every fall, the same thing happens across central North Carolina: homeowners who meant to book early get surprised by how fast the calendar fills. If you want your holiday lights up before Thanksgiving and a stress-free season, timing matters. Here's a practical timeline for the Sandhills.
Why Timing Matters in Central NC
Our season is concentrated. Most homeowners want their lights up between late October and Thanksgiving, which means the bulk of installs happen in a roughly four-to-six-week window. That window is finite — there are only so many crews and so many daylight hours. Booking early doesn't just guarantee your date; it also gives you the widest choice of styles and scope before the rush.
A Month-by-Month Timeline
- August–September: The smart window to reach out. You get the most flexibility on dates, time to plan your design, and no rush. This is when organized homeowners across Moore County lock in their spot.
- October: Still a great time to book, but popular weeks start filling. Early October is usually fine; by late October, prime install dates are scarce.
- November: The rush. We're actively installing, and new bookings get squeezed into remaining openings. You can still get on the schedule, but your date options narrow.
- Thanksgiving week: The target for most customers. Lights go up just before or right at Thanksgiving so your home is ready for the full holiday season.
- December: Late bookings. We do our best to fit people in, but availability is limited and weather can slow things down.
- January: Takedown season. We remove lights and store kits for next year.
How Far in Advance Should You Book?
As a rule of thumb: book in September for a November install. If you have a specific date in mind — a party, a family visit, a specific weekend — book even earlier. Returning customers often rebook right after takedown in January, which is why some dates disappear fast.
It's also worth booking early if you're considering permanent lighting. Permanent installs can be scheduled outside the holiday rush, so planning ahead in the summer means your system is ready and waiting when the season arrives — no scramble.
What About Takedown?
Takedown happens in January. You don't need to think about it at booking time — it's included in our turn-key outdoor holiday lighting service. We'll coordinate with you after the holidays to remove everything carefully and store your custom kit until next season.
The bottom line: the earlier you reach out, the smoother your season. Call (910) 994-6404 or request a free quote to claim your date.
